The Machame Route, often referred to as the “Whiskey Route,” is one of the most popular and well-known paths up Mount Kilimanjaro. Offering a balance between adventure and scenic beauty, it provides trekkers with incredible views, diverse landscapes, and an excellent chance of reaching the summit.

Starting on the southern side of the mountain at Machame Gate, the route quickly ascends into the lush rainforests that cover the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro.
