Details of Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park offers a diverse safari experience, from vibrant flamingos to the fearsome lions. Named after the seasonal alkaline lake at its center, the park is an excellent spot for canoeing in the wet season and traditional game drives year-round. Ernest Hemingway once called it “the loveliest I have seen in Africa,” and it serves as an ideal starting or finishing point for the northern safari circuit.

Aside from its impressive flamingo population, Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare sight found only here in Tanzania. These agile predators can often be seen lounging in acacia trees. The park is also home to Africa’s iconic wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and cape buffalo, as well as lesser-known species like Kirk’s dik-dik and klipspringer, making it a captivating destination for all wildlife enthusiasts.
