Day 01 :

Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut

Elevation: Approximately 1,500 m to 2,514 m
Distance: Approximately 10 km
Hiking Time: 4–6 hours
Habitat: Grassland and Montane Forest

After breakfast and a detailed briefing with your mountain guide, you will travel to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park for registration and final preparations before beginning your Mount Meru adventure.

Unlike many mountain trekking experiences, your journey begins inside a national park surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and wildlife. An armed park ranger accompanies trekkers as required during the trek through the lower slopes.

The trail passes through open grassland and beautiful forest, offering opportunities to spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys and a variety of bird species.

Continue gradually uphill toward Miriakamba Hut, where you will enjoy dinner and spend your first night on the mountain.

Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut

After breakfast, continue your ascent toward Saddle Hut. Today's trail becomes progressively steeper as you climb through montane forest and enter the higher mountain landscapes.

As you gain elevation, the vegetation gradually changes, revealing increasingly dramatic views of Mount Meru's volcanic surroundings and the valleys below.

Arrive at Saddle Hut, located between Mount Meru's main summit and Little Meru. After lunch and some time to rest, you can enjoy the beautiful high-altitude surroundings while preparing for the following day's acclimatization activities.

Day 03 :

Acclimatization Hike to Little Meru – Saddle Hut

Today is dedicated to acclimatization and preparation for the summit attempt. After breakfast, take a guided hike toward Little Meru, a beautiful viewpoint offering spectacular views across Arusha National Park and the surrounding landscapes.

The hike allows your body to spend time at a slightly higher elevation before returning to Saddle Hut to rest, following the important principle of climb high, sleep low.

After returning to camp, spend the afternoon relaxing, hydrating and preparing your equipment for the overnight summit attempt. Your guides will provide a detailed briefing before an early dinner and rest.

Day 04 :

Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak – Momella Gate

Elevation: 3,570 m to 4,566 m to approximately 1,500 m
Distance: Approximately 19 km
Hiking Time: 10–14 hours

Your summit adventure begins around midnight. Moving slowly and steadily through the darkness, you will begin the most challenging and rewarding stage of your Mount Meru journey.
The route follows the spectacular crater rim, with dramatic views into Mount Meru's volcanic crater and ash cone. As dawn approaches, continue toward Socialist Peak (4,566 m), the highest point on Mount Meru.
Reaching the summit at sunrise is an unforgettable achievement. On a clear day, you may enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the African landscape, as well as the dramatic volcanic scenery surrounding Mount Meru.
After celebrating your achievement and taking photographs, begin your descent back to Saddle Hut for a short rest and refreshments before continuing down through the changing landscapes toward Momella Gate.
Upon reaching the gate, your Mount Meru adventure comes to an end, followed by a transfer back to your hotel in Arusha for a well-deserved rest.
