6 Days Rongai Route
Discover a quieter and more remote side of Mount Kilimanjaro on the 6 Days Rongai Route, a scenic trekking adventure that approaches Africa’s highest mountain from the northern slopes near the Kenyan border. Known for its peaceful trails, beautiful wilderness and relatively dry conditions, the Rongai Route offers a unique alternative to Kilimanjaro’s busier southern routes.
Your journey begins through the forests on Kilimanjaro’s northern side before gradually climbing through open moorland and increasingly dramatic high-altitude landscapes. Along the way, you will enjoy expansive views across the northern plains and experience the spectacular volcanic scenery surrounding Mawenzi Peak.
The six-day itinerary provides a more balanced approach to the mountain than the shorter five-day version, allowing additional time for acclimatization as you progress toward the summit zone. After reaching the high-altitude camps near Kibo, you will make an unforgettable overnight attempt to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,341 ft) before descending through the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro.
With experienced mountain guides and a dedicated support crew by your side, the 6 Days Rongai Route offers a rewarding combination of adventure, scenic beauty and a sense of wilderness on your journey to the Roof of Africa.
